The question of reality has always bothered mankind from the beginning of time. Today, the lines of Reality are blurred to such an extent that the human mind has conditioned itself to the fact of Multiple realities. Today, it is quiet fashionable to say that there is our truth and their truth.
I have come here to mumbai, the economic capital of the country. Life here is miles apart from the life that i live in Bhopal. Now, yesterday i had gone with my friends to a movie. After the movie was over, i just commented on the fact that how bad Mumbai has indeed become. The Traffic snarls, the electricity problem and the deteriorating infrastructure that the city is currently facing. They all rubbished my claims and came up with this statement that "Mumbai IS Mumbai". The life here is so fast paced and entertaining that they cannot even think about life outside of mumbai.
One of my other friends who had lived in Sangli for some time said that Sangli is as developed as Mumbai is, and that the development is certainly spreading to other parts of the state. Kolhapur, a state within Maharashtra, is considered to have the largest number of BMWs, if my friend is to be believed. All these bits of information, if indeed true represents twp things. One, the Media is not highlighting the positive side of the booming economy, or that the very factor of Multiple realities is being witnessed.
India and the Citizens are currently facing the problem of this Multiple realities as well the factor of Microcosm. The Urban people tend to view things within a Microcosm of the development of the Socio-economic factors. The rural hinterland unfortunately doesnt even have the vision for Microcosm, because Survival is the ultimate factor in their life.
In my previous posts, i had said that today there exists an India within an India. The interaction that i had with my friends yesterday is proof that the factor of Two Indias is visible, and the fact is that nobody wants to acknowledge it. The sad part is, like the factor of Multiple realities, it gets blurred. People who earn a living in Mumbai and have already established a life can easily say that Mumbai is booming, and that they dont care for what happens outside their sphere of Microcosm. I guess the same criteria of Multiple realities applies. In today's scenario in which we look at India, it might be safe to say that there is Our India and there is Their India.
