The feeling of Depression

Life is considered to be full of ups and downs. One day you have the best time of your life, but the next day, it is filled with depression and sadness. That is what has happened today with me. But, i have to adher to the motto mentioned in the first line, because it is true.

The day after my birthday, today was not the right day. I could feel it the moment i got up. The sky was cloudy and stormy, on account of the hailstorms that had hit the city on the previous night. It was cold, cloudy and dull, the right atmosphere for a person to get depressed. I thought that in the evening, things would perk up, but it just went from bad to worse.

I am finding it difficult to organize my thoughts on account of this depression. But, i got a chance to observe within myself the feelings that I undego when I am sad or depressed. Maybe, with the varying nature of humans, it may vary. But, this is just a kind of picture that I am putting out and perhaps will be used to figure out how not to fall into it again.

The first thing is that my mind is completely blank. There are just no thoughts going into your mind, which perhaps affects your other senses. Because of the mind being completely blank, you are unable to talk it out. The urge or the feeling to talk is just absent momentarily. Hence, that is why perhaps people remain silent when they are sad. To accompany this sadness, it is this general tendency of the mind to settle into an isolating mode, and hence people remain reserved when they are depressed. That is why i feel that being sad indeed reduces your life span, because your mind ceases to function properly, thus affecting the other senses if not in the short run then in the long run.

But, this is something that our mind is condiioned for. It goes throught such phases, such is its incredibility. The silver lining in being sad is that perhaps when a New day comes, New ideas and New outlooks are subconsciously adopted, and we begin to function in a different way as we have been before. Maybe, that is the true meaning of ups and downs with life. The only thing that frustrates the human spirit is the time span of the Down and the Up. Possibly, tommorow might bring upon new change for me, but I just hope that the Down is not prolonged, at a time when my heart says that a lot of good things are on the way.
