Man vs Animal: Who is the winner and the loser?

Among the species on Earth, Human beings are the most advanced because of their ability and the power to think. The Brain is what has made Human beings superior among the rest of the species that inhabit the planet. However, when the mind begins to function in an irrational and destructive way, it makes us wonder as to why we evolved Superior. This refers to the case of the two leopards which strayed on to residential societies in Nashik and in Kashmir. In the case of Kashmir, the leopard was tortured to death. It is this kind of thing which makes me feel disgusted about the human psyche.

The question remains as to who is responsible for this Man and Animal Conflict? In the first instance, Animals stray on to Human spaces due to encraochment by humans onto Forest Land. The pace of economic development and the swelling population has meant more people wanting more houses, but less amount of land. The Forest land is taken up by human beings, owing to which animals are displaced. These creatures loose out on their meal, which is smaller animals, and thus wander out into human spaces to search for food. Thus, it is the fault of Human beings selfish drive for development that is already putting the animals at danger.

The exploitation of the forest for other glamorous economic processes has resulted in more animals getting displaced and losing their habitat. It is as if their shelter has been demolished, and now they are wandering for miles looking for a place to live. It is easy to equate this phenomenon with the plight of the poor people, whose hutments are destroyed and they are left wandering here and there for stability. But, since the poor animal is unable to speak up for the wrongs that is inflicted upon it, it becomes a target for torture like in he case of the Leopard in Kashmir.

The incidences of today show both sides of the animal and man conflict. One thing which goes against the animal clan is that they too kill human beings for food. If the people in the affected region are to be believed, the leopard and several other wild animals have eaten up Children as well as maimed some other people. It is perhaps this one factor which over-rides the public mind, and hence their death is not regretted. The savagery shown by Human beings is proof that in this world, their personal space is valued beyond anything else. If their space is violated, Ironically, the ANIMAL within them is risen. Unfortunately, in this case, the Leopards had to be on the recieving end.

The visuals that were shown on TV today were shocking and made me absolutely sick. The savagery with which the leopard was stoned and beaten to death is indication that Human Beings are the most cruel species on this planet. One wonders after this that wether all this talk about Humanity and feelings is nothing but a Load of Bullshit. The irrationality that was evident on the visual indeed shows us that in this conflict, Man is winning, and though I am a human being, I am regretting that we are winning it. I will admit this tough, that if a Leopard or any animal encroaches my space, I will feel agitated and fearful. Circumstances might force me to take up arms to kill it. But, in my heart, i shall ask for forgiveness for killing an animal, because they too have a Heart.

No number of Forest officials and activists can save Animals. They are all doomed, because of the pathetic mindset of the human race that is hell bent on destroying anything that encroaches their space, or anything which poses a threat to their dominance. It is indeed a mournful day for the animal kingdom, and I truly regret this.
