Long Live the King

January 8th, 1935 was designated as the day in which a person would singlehandedly change the very scope of music in the world. This person, as he grew, would sing and blend all the different kinds of Western Music forms with effortless ease. He had the largest number of Number 1 singles Hit Songs in History. It was Cruel that he passed away at such a young age. Elvis Aaron Presley still continues to inspire us and live in our hearts, almost 30 years after his death. It is on this day that i as a fan of Elvis tell as to why he was and is still is the Greatest.

I was listening to Elvis Presley's Number 1 music collections, and it was at that time I thought to Myself that why not i check up on Elvis's life in detail. So, i went to the website www.elvis.com, and it was there i got a glimpse of Elvis the Man himself. First and for all, i have to apologize to Elvis himself, for forgetting his Birthday. But, a belated wish is better than nothing. For me, it was his confidence and the need for some fresh ideas everytime which made him great. His confidence for the fact that he could sing all kinds of music, and fresh ideas for the different kinds of Rhythm and tone that he used to put it in every song. That is why Elvis remains the King. The least talked about attribute about Elvis, but which later sustained him in the 1970's was his Awareness. After he had taken a break from in the later part of the 60's, he had realized that the music world had undergone profound change. Hence, he adapted himself and gave us some Rocking Hits. His last Hit in 1972, 'Burning Love' was indeed an all out rock-n-roll number.

Elvis was also a fine actor, and he achieved acclaim as a great actor during his early years itself. Most Notable among his films which made him popular was King Creole, G.I.Blues and Blue Hawaii. His Comeback Feature 'Elvis' in 1968 was watched by millions all over the world. That shows his popular appeal among diverse cultures, inspite of the fact that did not tour Abroad much.

But, his later years were very troubled indeed. The Breakup of His Marriage, the heavy dosage of Drugs had taken a toll on his health. Elvis in all these years had accumalated a large amount of wealth, but he was financially obliged for his family, as well as the staff and other things. Elvis suffered from Self-Doubt, believe it or not, and he suffered from poor management. Hence, he threatened to quit show business altogether, but situations that i have mentioned in the above paragraph made it very difficult. His Overdosage of Drugs ultimately resulted in his death in 1978, and the whole world was in a State of Shock. The cruel thing was that Elvis was only 43 years of age.

So many awards, so many accolades, so many felicitations upon him by ordinary and prominent Americans, that it makes you wonder wether he was for real or not. He was the symbol of the times that America underwent in those 3 decades that he rocked us with. He has inspired generations following World War-2, and even in the 21st Century, his music and his style continues to inspire so many other musicians. Just ask Michael Jackson. Many people consider his antiques on stage similar to the ones Elvis did during his time. Elvis Presley was waaayyyyy ahead of his times, and he still makes his dance to his tunes even today.

Some people consider Elvis to be a Redneck as well as for the fact that he souded too Monotonous. I really pity those people, for they are truly missing out on Quality. I have only One message for them, which is: "You ain't nothin but a Hound Dog, Crockin all the time". Thank you Elvis for entertaining us, and in this birthday of yours, i only rue the fact that you could not be alive at the time when I was born. Now, i am only confined to knowing about you through wannabe look alikes, on websites and your records. But, as people say, it is better to have something than not have anything at all.

NOTE: Some information in the second, third and fourth paragraph is from the official website of Elvis, which is www.elvis.com
