The Middle East Fire

I had recieved a powerpoint presentation regarding the ongoing conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians. The presentation showed images of Palestinians fighting the Israelis, wounded as well as Dead individuals during clashes. It was however the remaining final slides which struck a chord of discontent within me. Some of these slides gave reasons for Children taking up arms against the Israelis, as well as confronting the military head on during incursions. One particular slide showed a Palestinian mother being murdered by Israeli Police in front of her child. It is these images which the world has perhaps not seen.

The dynamics of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is such that any material provided by both sides is considered equivalent to Propoganda. Because of the unrelenting Biasness of the Arabs towards the Israelis, whatever material that they show to the outside world is considered Propoganda. This conflict has always kept the Middle East boiling and now the factor of Iraq has been added to make it boil to dangerous proportions. This third Intifada has dragged on for 6 years, and the prospects for peace look even more distant. The Palestinian public has chosen a Hamas led government to lead them. This government has reiterated that it will not recognize Israel, and the situation has returned back to square one, with no side willing to negotiate.

What should we People make out of this conflict? Should we trust the Israelis and go by their claim that they are only doing these incursions into Palestinian territories as Self-Defence? Should the Palestinians be trusted as to the fact that this is really their land? The bottomline is that We do not know who is right and who is wrong in this conflict. The cycle of violence and Hatred is such that not one side can be accountable for everything. If something happens on one side, it is blamed on the other side for bringing it on themselves.

The slideshow put out certain facts, and one slide might be turning to reality. Whatever happens in this conflict, generations of Israelis and Palestinians for sure will be affected. Until then, there might be more spilling of blood in this land. The fire could become the Apocalypse in the near future, and the world is watching it helplessly. It will be made more difficult, for every aspect of the "Supposed Truth" will be treated as PROPOGANDA.
