The 9th Cricket World Cup has begun today, and the excitement is very high in a Cricket Crazy nation like ours. This World Cup begins in the Caribbean, a place best known for its beautiful sights and sounds, as well as the Carnival atmosphere that accompanies every major event. There has been considerable build up of excitement for the past one year, as it happens with every Cricket event in which India is there.
This World Cup might also be special for India. Many analysts say that this is the best team being picked as well as the best prepared of the lot. The only unfortunate thing, which is beyond our control is the Time Difference. People in India will have to burn the Midnight Oil to watch the full match, on account of the 10 hour Time difference between India and the Caribbean. But, in a Cricket Crazy country like ours, and in particular when India will be involved, the people will do the needful to catch a glimpse of this event.
This time around the people are very optimistic, many believe that this is India's best chance to win this trophy. But, being an Indian supporter, i have observed that to trust India to win is a Mountainous task, and one that will make your hair grey. The motto being that the Indian Team can anytime Self-Destruct, both on the field and mentally. Hence, to have full backing of the team will not be advisable. But, I am an Indian, and hence, i will like nothing better for India to win the Cup, and bring forth a Renaissance in Sports in the country.
