I attended a party today, and the theme was rural based. The backdrop was Rajasthan, and today, i got a glimpse of the colour and the spectacle of Rajasthani Culture. After having seen this, my wish before i leave is to travel to Rajasthan, and experience all the splendours of this colourful state. Rajasthan has always fascinated me, because of its puppets, colours, palaces and the Dancing.
It was the Dancers who really gave a good time at the party today. The various kinds of Rajasthani Folk Dancing were on stage and some of the performances were truly mind boggling. There was an act were in the Female Dancer balanced 8 pots on her head and she balanced herself on two glasses and then on top of three razor sharp swords. At the same time, maintaining her balance as well as her movement, it was truly fantastic. The music score also reflected the cultural setup of the state as a whole.
The state is an exhibition of colours. Pink, Blue, White are the most prominent colours of the state. Along with a large number of Forts and palaces, this makes Rajasthan truly spectacular. The Puppet shows that are held in many towns across Rajasthan are an indication that the method of Story telling is unique here. With the blending of Music, Song and Story, the locals and the outsiders get equally entertained. It is perhaps this reason that Rajasthan will make your journey an unforgettable one.
The only complaint against the people of Rajasthan is that they are very conservative. The people here adher to the age old values of Matriarchy and Patriarcy. But, leaving that aside, Rajasthan is indeed a Cultural experience of a lifetime. I got fascinated when i got that experience in a party here in Bhopal. I wonder how it is going to be when i experience those in that very land. It really thrills me, and a Trip to Rajasthan is definately on the cards, thanks to this event.
