First, poor umpiring in the Sydney cricket test match dominated the result. Now, the aftermath of the Sydney test has been cloaked with Racism. This is the second consecutive time it has happened between India and Australia, and the person involved is the same. Andrew Symonds may now want to think twice about coming to India, for he has been the target of alleged Racism twice.
In my previous posts, i have argued that Racism differs from place to place. Now, the Monkey chant against Symonds has been touted Racist. Many Indians and 'ordinary people' do not consider the Monkey word as Racist. We all have evolved from Monkeys. I do not know any freak who has evolved from an alien. I would only suggest this one test. If someone who does not know you, and in a moment of aggression calls you Monkey, see if you get offended or angry. Majority of the times, it will be found out that people get extremely reactionary on being called a monkey.
NO ONE likes to be taunted on the way they look. I will ask the people of India one thing. If they support a player who alleged he did not indulge in Racism, what about in your house? Casteism and Racism are prominent even in India, and now from victims we are moving on to be open racists. Of course, doubts will always remain whether Harbhajan Singh, the player involved in the centre of the storm, really said it.
The thing has become a game of tit for tat. Indian players and administratrs have launched a similar complaint against one Australian player. What will be the outcome of that is uncertain, but this also will highlight the alleged double standards of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Let me state again, that AUSTRALIANS ARE ALSO NO ANGELS. I said it yesterday, and i will say it forever.
The main point is a formula can be made out of all of this and which sums up the debate. POOR UMPIRING+ BAD LUCK+ RACISM+ INDIAN TEAM INCOMPETENCE= CONTROVERSY. The outcome will be keenly awaited. This may either expose the double standards of the ICC, it may expose Australian lying or it may give Indians the new tag of new age Racists
